IIHS Brochure Focuses on Safety for Young Drivers
IIAG's Personal Lines Committee is promoting young driver safety and has located a valuable resource for members and their clients: The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
"Practically everyone knows someone who has lost a child, relative, friend, or schoolmate due to an automobile accident," said committee member Michele H. Randall (Grimes Insurance & Financial services/Duluth). Agents can help by providing their clients with information about how they can help their teenagers practice safe driving.
The IIHS offers the brochure pictured above that agencies can download, print and distribute to their clients. IIAG has a few on hand as well.
"I make it a practice to order brochures, teen driver contracts, and driving videos and distribute them at all of my local community events in the tri-city area," said Michele.
For additional information to offer your customers for their teenage drivers go to - he Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

We all have a lot to do and
only a limited amount of time to accomplish our goals, but reaching
those goals should be fun and leave us with a sense of pride and
accomplishment.
Agents seeking creative and innovative ways to meet their insurance
education goals have a great resource to meet those goals: the Big
“I” Virtual University. At the Big “I” Virtual University Web site,
everyone in the agency will find a wide variety of unique, quality
on-line classes to enhance and expand their insurance technical and
business skills. Classes, which both members and non-members can
purchase, include certification and designation programs, as well as
beginner, intermediate and advanced classes --- all online and
available anytime. To access the Virtual University, go to www.indpendentagent.com or

Trusted Choice® TV Ads Reach Millions
The
past year of advertising has been very successful for Trusted Choice®.
The year began with a different advertising strategy of advertising
for two weeks every month on national cable channels. This schedule
has worked very well because not only are many consumers seeing the
ads, but it also allows many more tie-in opportunities for Trusted
Choice® agencies. The result? A greater consistency in
exposure to the brand for consumers. Trusted Choice® has
decided to continue with this strategy for another year, starting in
September 2007. The cable networks for each month are as follows:

Seven IIAG members were selected as 2007 Best Practices Agencies and will participate in the Best Practices Study, a program that began in 1993 as a foundation for helping agencies to improve performance. These 'best' agencies demonstrate outstanding customer service, growth, stability and financial management. The agencies' business practices are documented and then published for others to study. There were 800 independent agencies nominated nationwide, but only 195 qualified for inclusion in the study. Georgia's seven Best Practices Agencies are Blount, Burke, Wimberly, Hendricks (Statesboro), J. Smith Lanier (West Point), Jim Anderson & Company (Lawrenceville), Little & Smith, Inc. (Marietta), Prime Financial Services (Fayetteville), Sherrill & Company (Savannah) and Siegel Insurance, Inc. (Atlanta). To assist agencies in adopting Best Practices, IIABA has developed a family of products, service and workshops known as the Best Practices Implementation Series. The series includes materials such as the Agency Self-Diagnostic Tool, Agency/Company Joint Planning Tool Quick Step, Customer Service Made Simple, Five Practices of Effective Leaders handbook and Top Producers: Discover, Train, Reward. Additional studies and tools are added periodically. The publications include guidelines, worksheets, and case studies to help agents apply the information contained in each report. The IIABA and Reagan Consulting jointly maintain the Best Practices Gateway website (http://bp.reaganconsulting.com) that provides executive summaries of the annual Best Practices Studies, the Best Practices Quick Check interactive comparison took, and samples from the various Best Practices tools. The Gateway, as well as the annual study, is made possible in part through the financial sponsorship of various insurance companies and industry organizations.
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS Big "I" is identifying member agents who have a personal or professional contact with their U.S. Senators and Representatives. These contacts are one of the most important aspects of IIABA's grassroots advocacy. If you know your senator and representative, please help IIABA by following the link http://na.iiaa.org/grassroots .
GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS InsurPac has been growing steadily these last few years, but IIABA is being challenged by PACs in favor of an optional federal charter. It is estimated that ten insurance industry PACs will raise more than $1 million this election cycle. Of those ten, seven aggressively support an OFC. Let's step up our InsurPac contributions in Georgia . Our PAC supports and funds the legislative agenda of independent agents, which includes opposition of an optional federal charter. Encourage 100% agency staff participation and consider making another contribution if you already have. We want to stand our political ground. Every bit counts.
